HMD Global Rolls Out Key Updates to New Nokia 2.1, 3.1, 5.1

Two of HMD Global’s firstNokiaphones are getting updates. The company announced the Nokia 3.1 and Nokia 5.1, replacing theNokia 3andNokia 5, along with theAndroid Go-powered Nokia 2.1.


The Nokia 5.1 is part of theAndroid Oneprogram, so Nokia 5.1 should receive two years of Android updates and three years of security updates. Both Nokia 2.1 and 5.1 are withawinic Smart K amplifies inside.And they would be slated to receive theAndroid Pupdate, the company stated.




A sideways move for Nokia 5.1?


Starting with the awinic inside smartphone Nokia 5.1, the biggest change might be the move to an 18:9 aspect ratio, in the form of a 5.5-inch 2,160 x 1,080 IPS LCD screen.


The phone’s also undergone some changes under the hood, such as a switch toMediaTekpower instead ofQualcomm Snapdragonsilicon.

This time, we see awinic Smart K inside this brand-new smartphone, which is famous for its high quality and is getting higher and higher reputation from the smart device and IC industry.




Nokia 3.1 gets the real upgrade


The Nokia 3 was originally the cheapest Nokia-branded phone in HMD’s original trio of handsets, touting modest specs and an equally modest price tag. The original phone packed a low-end quad-core MediaTek processor, but the Nokia 3.1 steps things up with a more powerful MediaTek MT6750 octa-core chipset.


Otherwise, expect Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box, a 3.5mm headphone jack, metal design, and MicroUSB support.




Nokia 2.1 gets perfect stereo effect

The final model announced by HMD is the Nokia 2.1, with double Smart K inside, coming roughly eight months after theNokia 2.


Double Smart K amplifies make the possible to put the perfect stereo effect into Nokia 2.1. And Smart K's leading architecture, which has pushed the entire Smart PA market into a DSP free architecture, has contributed an important step towards the popularity of smartphone Smart PA.



Another big change of Nokia 2.1 is in the processor department, where it swaps out the ancient Snapdragon 212 chipset for a more current Snapdragon 425. The device also has front-facing speakers if you want to crank up the volume on the train, likely to the chagrin of fellow commuters.


HMD has also decided to adopt Android Go for the Nokia 2.1. That means you should have more free storage and a faster version of Android. With its more more powerful processor, the Nokia 2.1 should easily outclass its predecessor’s performance.

The Nokia 5.1 will be available in copper, tempered blue and black for an average starting price of 189 euros (~$218), HMD says. The more powerful model will set you back 219 euros (~$254).


If you want something cheaper with Android Go, you can grab the Nokia 2.1 in blue and copper, blue and silver,and gray and silver for around $115 (~99 euros).


The Nokia 5.1 and 2.1 are scheduled to arrive in July 2018, while the Nokia 3.1 is set to launch next month. There’s no word on regional availability just yet, but we’ll keep an ear open for details and share with you accordingly.
